Mini-projekt?
Jag skapar nya projekt i en rasande takt. Dom flesta stannar på idé-stadiet. En del påbörjas och av dessa fullföljs en del, men inte alla.

En del kallar jag "idiot-projekt". Av lite olika orsaker. Bland dessa orsaker finns dessa:
– Orimlig tidsåtgång, i förhållande till utbytet.
– Orimlig kostnad.
– Tvekamt om utbytet (resultatet) gör det värt kostnaden.
– Risker av olika slag.

Som alltid, när det gäller hobby, kan ju nöjet att göra det vara belöningen.

Det här "projektet" var på god väg att klassas som idiotprojekt.

LED-konvertering av HD LCD-skärm med fluorescerande backlight
En 24"-skärm med "full-HD-uplösning" hade havererat. Backlighten hade slocknat. Jag ställde den åt sidan, för eventuell framtida LED-konvertering.
Där hade den stått ett tag och nu var jag på god väg att kasta den.
Men, tänkte jag, jag frågar Google AI först.

You can revive an older, fading display using a universal CCFL-to-LED conversion kit. These inexpensive kits (usually $15–$30) come with adhesive LED strips, an LED driver board, and wiring harnesses.


How the Conversion Works

1. Dismantling: You carefully open the monitor casing to remove the LCD panel and the fragile fluorescent tubes.

2. Replacing: You stick the new, cut-to-fit LED strips into the same slots where the old tubes were.

3. Power & Control: You disconnect the original fluorescent inverter and replace it with the new LED driver board. This driver board connects to your monitor’s main logic board to control power and brightness levels.


What You Should Consider First

• Technical Skill Required: Disassembling a monitor requires patience and precision. You must handle the delicate, paper-thin LCD screen without breaking it or introducing dust.

• Light Uniformity: Because aftermarket LED strips use fewer, more spaced-out light sources than the continuous glow of a fluorescent tube, there is a small risk of slight light bleeding or uneven brightness.

• Adhesive Failure: The included double-sided tape can dry out and fail over time due to monitor heat. Using a tiny dab of high-temperature silicone or securing the strips mechanically ensures they do not drop off.

Den gamla LCD-skärmen får väl stå ett tag till...

det går nog, men sådana skärmar men fungerande kan man ju hitta gratis i drivor så det är väl knappast lönsamt.

..Men jag "klagar" inte, jag har lagat massor med meninglösa saker
